The Project

Marramwind logo

ScottishPower and Shell have joined forces to develop the MarramWind offshore windfarm following success in Crown Estate Scotland’s ScotWind Leasing in January 2022.

Located 75 kilometres off the north-east coast of Scotland, in water depths averaging 111 metres, the proposed MarramWind floating offshore windfarm could deliver up to 3 gigawatts (GW) of cleaner renewable energy.

That’s enough green electricity to power the equivalent of more than 3.5 million homes.

The Vision

Wind power is an important way of generating renewable electricity and helping the UK achieve the government target of net zero by 2050. As world-leading energy developers, Shell and ScottishPower bring together decades of experience to deliver the world’s first large-scale floating offshore wind projects.

The MarramWind joint venture are dedicated to helping Scotland and the UK meet its ambitious net-zero targets, and to maximise benefits to Scotland’s economy and communities.
